What to Do When Your Power Goes Out.
A tripped safety switch can be caused by a faulty appliance, outdoor equipment, moisture or an electrical fault. Work through these basic checks only when the area is dry and there is no smoke, burning smell, exposed wiring or immediate danger.
Turn Off and Unplug Appliances.
Unplug every appliance from the affected power points, including kitchen appliances, fridges, laundry equipment, extension leads, garage equipment, outdoor power points, pool pumps and water pumps.
Reset the Safety Switch Once.
With dry hands, move the tripped safety switch fully to OFF and then back to ON. If it trips again straight away, leave it off and call a licensed electrician.
Reconnect Items One at a Time.
If the safety switch stays on, reconnect each appliance individually. If it trips when a particular item is switched on, unplug that item and arrange repair or replacement.
Call a Local Electrician if the Fault Continues.
